Riding on a steam train is one of the most evocative ways to travel. As you watch the glorious English countryside gliding by, you could be forgiven for thinking that you have been transported back in time. The locomotives and railways are maintained by a dedicated team of volunteers to ensure that your experience is as authentic as possible. With a selection of beautiful unspoilt locations to choose from you can leave modern life behind for a while and completely immerse yourself in history. From the moment you arrive at the station you will be able to imagine what life would have been like for those who embarked on some of the earliest train journeys powered by the engines which made steam travel popular. Many stations are home to museums to give you an idea of how steam travel changed the face of England's transportation system. Your steam train experience is for two people, some journeys are return trips whilst others are all day rover tickets enabling you to stop off en route to explore the local area.
